as the title says....
forget the strobe, SOS, and low/med/high

i just saw some beamshots on d-mini thread (manufacturers section)

if it is.... d-mini will kill p1d-ce of brightness?

I have both and I'd say the total amount of light is nearly equal. The Fenix light is a bit more blue. The D mini throws better. P1D more suited for general use I'd say due to it's smoother beam pattern and dimmability.

Both are fantastic lights and both have their applications.

Both have their applications. Both are bright. D-Mini has more throw BUT a big + at side of the Fenix are the full regulated output levels and thus an incredible runtime for such a bright and tiny light, even on "Low".

Best regards

That's the only reason why I didn't buy a D-mini. The lack of regulation on a primary cell really takes it down a few notches.

The d-mini is a mini search light, incredible throw, very focused beam with some artifacts with a super strong hotspot and little side spill.
The P1DCE has a smoother beam with more side spill.
Both are great, I think you must have both.

T4R06, Is that Fenix P1D CE Video with the thread slop with

If the dimming function is such that you have to click through multiple modes to one by one, it will quickly get annoying on the field. Not really a problem for living room flashlight players.

Both lights are using fully charged RCR123's.

I'm rather tempted to grab a D-Mini in addition to my P1D-CE just for the extra throw. I just know that I proably wouldn't ever EDC since a head that big wouldn't drop in my pocket without leaving a huge, obvious lump. The P1D-CE is probably near my limit for diameter. But you have to admit, the beamshots re nice. And the only way to concentrate the beam like that is with a little bigger head. Argh...which priority to compromise...smallness or brightness...

Oh well, I guess there's always the "buy them both" option...then there's no compromise. ;)

-Era (still waiting for that no-compromise P1D-sized light with tank light output & 24-hour runtime @ < $100)

"D-Mini standard ver @58.95, additional USD23 for optional D-Flood reflector." This is for those who already ordered without a D-Flood reflector.
It's only $8 extra to get the D-Flood instead of the smooth reflector.
