Hello Fellow CPF'ers, I just wanted to let you know that I am having to send in my Streamlight Strion for repairs. The problem is that the light isn't coming on all the way when I twist the tailcap all the way, and the beam fluctuates. I had this same problem with it six months ago, and sent it in for repair then also.
I just got off the phone with the repair dept at Streamlight, and it seems that they are well aware of the problem, and have created a new switch that can properly handle heat better. I am mailing it off tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes. So far, they were very nice on the phone, and seemed eager to fix the problem.
Also of interest: While on the phone, I asked them if my old polystinger, which I carried on duty for many years (and which has seen better days) would be covered under warranty for the rubber grig that came off long ago, and the switch, which no longer has any rubber on it. To my surprise, they said to send it on in, and they would replace the grip and switch. Shiney!
I am in no way suggesting that you avoid the Strion, as I think it's a great light. I just thought that if any of you were having the same problem, and had learned to live with it, there is a fix, and they will be happy to fix it for you free of charge. I'll let you know if I have any problems, but I don't expect any considering how nice they sounded on the phone.
