The Alinco is just great for size, and that it has a Lithium Ion battery. I love it for around the city. We have two repeaters here that I talk on a good bit, and they are both within a few miles of me, so that 300mW radio is great for that. Plus it fits in my Royal Robbins 5.11 pants pocket quite well (just like regular bdu pocket).

The pen is a Fisher Space bullet pen. I love that one too, works great in all conditions, starts a bit clumpy but it does work...

Plus the Alinco will receive out of band. It will receive most public service and police freqs! Great little radio! We call it the "Credit Card Radio".

Webley, No it doesn't receive trunk, and doesn't receive 800mhz, so its useless for that..Really I have never seen a scanner which can hold even an inch to a Motorola Trunking radio...Of course, even my ham stuff is Motorola gear, because it wins hands down.

MTS2000 radios are way better than uniden/radio shack, etc scanners...
