I have often mused about taking a Radio Shack 10 AA holder (or maybe an 8 AA holder)and putting it into a 2D flashlight to run a 12V diving light bulb. Has anyone done this? Any suggestion as to what the ideal mod platform would be? The Radio Shack holder connectors are 9V battery connectors
How about putting a 4AA series holder in the place of a D cell along with a D in a Mag 2D with Nimhs and running any commonly available Xenon or Halogen PR base lamp? Is there a Battery holder for 4AAs with end connectors that work like a single D cell? If so, the possibilities would be vast and easy to execute. This question of renewed hope is motivated by Wayne's mod of a vintage Boy Scout L neck flashlight.
The 4AA plus 1D scenario might result in the D charging the 4AAs as they run down, but I imagine that prudently early recharging might avoid this scenario. Even if I forgot to recharge, I don't see a severe downside to the size mismatch.
