Overdischarged Unprotected Li-Ion - Toss it?

I accidentally left my Scorpion (with FM 18650 batt tube) on. The unprotected LG 2400 mAh cell now reads .37V (not 3.7).

Have I killed the cell? Or, is it OK to try to charge it in my Pila (IBC) charger?

I know unprotected Li-Ion's can be dangerous, so I won't attempt anything until I hear from someone who knows.

Thanks for info,
Bill

I have had left my flashlight on and discharged the 18650 to about 2V with no load, charged again and no problems.

I accidentally killed two of my unprotected powerizer RCR123A batteries in an Aleph 3. The light was still barely lit when I found it and so I tried to charge the batteries, but they wouldn't charge for me at all.

I say toss it. A new battery is cheaper then a new house, eye, or leg. :grin2:

Bill;

At 0.37 Volts, it is probably damaged .

At any rate, the Pila charger would apply too much current to be effective.

Buy a new cell.

I'm tossing the cell...promise! I'm really glad I asked about this.

I've seen the movies of Li-Ion's going off and I never want to see that in person.

Thanks for the help and concern,
Bill
