Has anyone successfully used a Lumapower LM301 with a 14500 ? When I try, it works on low mode, but only flashes on high mode ? The battery reads 3.85V, so it should work, as the LM301 can supposedly handle up to 4 volts.

Thanks,
Mike

I've got one modded with a SSC-P4. It works fine on 14500, but low and high are now pretty close to each other.

I tried mine on a 14500 when I first got the light. I don't think there was much difference in output. I'll try it again later today to recheck...

I just tried mine again on a 14500. I can't tell any difference on high versus the alkaline...however, that was in a somewhat dark garage. Maybe I need to try later tonight, when the garage is really dark. Like previously mentioned, you'll have to change the resistor to get the low level back. With the 14500, both high and low modes are pretty much equal brightness.
