So the leds are the issue with centering?

Does the reflectors leave room for soldering on the wires on the top?

I'm not following you? How would the LEDS be an issue? The reflectors sit on top of the led and do not have centering rings like the XR16 and XR17 so I had to make rings that press onto the base of the reflectors to center them on the LEDS.

Plenty of room to solder.

Very nice as usual... ... but... ... are you running this light using only three 17670 cells?

Yes 3x17670 in series. The leds are wired 2 in series 2 in parallel.

Mac, ah ok now I understand about centering the reflectors. I thought they sat over the ring of the XRE and centered themselves, and the issues was getting the leds "just right" on the heatsink. Now I know what everyone is talking about! Thanks!

Nice BTW! You make some real elegant patterns with the knurling/head work!

Nice light! I would also be interested in a comparison beamshot against an M6...that would be interesting :)

The M6 would DESTROY this light. It's even slightly brighter than the WiseLed Tactical on fresh cells.

The M6 on fresh cells outputs close to 1000 lumens. Surefire rated the M6 at 500 lumens which is the mid-point output of battery life.

Mac, you and I know this but not the ones w/o the Quad XRE lights.

From what I see on mine, it's like flat 700-800 lumens out the front with a wicked tight beam.

That's a great idea. I have a very similar project in the wings (awaiting my Q2's and Maxflex) and I was wondering how I was going to stop the McR19XR's from moving out of centre on the emitter.

Any chance you could post some pics / specs of the centering rings you made....I'd like to copy your work if that's ok.

Top work as always,

The ring is a press fit onto the reflector. The hole in the delrin adapter is sized to the XR-E metal ring.

On the XR-27's the ring is even visable inside the reflector due to the larger size of the ream (hole).

Ahhh I get it now. Nice!

I wonder how the beam would compare against a Quad SSC P4 with McR20mm....?

Try it out mac and do a comparison! :D you know you wanna! :)
