i need to know this as well :)

2 x 3.7V = 7.4V

which should be quite a bit more than 2 x CR123A for less than 6V under load

but i am using the X5T to burn off the last bit of juice anyway most of the time

If the 3.7V batteries are too much, you may be able
use the 3.0V batteries.
3.7V batteries can top off at 4.2V hot off the charger.
The 3.0V batteries are direct replacements for a regular
CR123 battery for most applications but not all.

It takes 12ms for the regulator to kick in and
drop down the voltage from 3.6V to 3-3.2V for the Tenergy.
Some lights may burn out if they can't handle the initial voltage
even thought it is only 12ms.
Initial cell voltage of 3.6V switches to 3-3.2V within 12ms.

The 3.2v one might work also, you need to find out
the working voltage for the Inova X5.
Someone on this site should know and tell you. Keep checking.

You can try these.
Tenergy 3.0V 900mAh regulated and protected batteries
Powerizer RCR123A 3.0V 680mAh protected & regulated batteries

Many Li-ions do not physically fit in the snug tube of the X5, but this should not concern you since many CPFers in the past have noted that Li-ions have caused one or more of their X5 LEDs to go :poof:

Yes. You can use the 3V RCR 123s that are sold under the Tenergy brand, or the ones sold under the Ultralast brand. The X5 doesn't draw enough current to be an issue with the protection circuits in either of these batteries. I think batteryspace (Powerizer) also has a version of these 3.0 V batteries, but I've never had any experience with that merchant.

Does anyone know if the Inova X5 can safely use rechargeable 123's?
