I started a thread a while back about Dealextreme getting Cree based lights, and Kaidomain's Cree plans were discussed there as well. (As most CPFers know, these are the 2 new sites begun by the 2 original partners in FifthUnit who have now [amicably] gone their separate ways).

Now that Kai at Kaidomain is stocking up on his Cree models (and soon, a Seoul as well), I thought it would be good to have a separate thread regarding his offerings.

As for the Rexlight, Kai tells me it's still undergoing testing. If that makes for a better final product, I'm for it. But, as fast as this market has been moving recently, they probably shouldn't wait too long!

Here's the link to Kaidomain.com: http://www.kaidomain.com/

It'll be Cree's at dawn.

Damn it, it's 5 months to my birthday !

Mid Summer, not the best time to buy torches...

Hmm, I see that the DX Cree light ( http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1284 ) is there on KaiDomain as the http://www.kaidomain.com/products/sku123.html

Kai lists the lumens as 110 (that's it? for a P4 bin Cree at 950 mA and 3.6 volts?)
and the lux as 3800 at 1 meter... On the other hand, DealExtreme lists the lux as 7500 at 3 feet. Can someone make sense of this? I know 3 feet is not = 1 meter, but that's a huge difference. Maybe the lights are in fact different?

One's with 18650 @ 3.7v

One's with RCR123's @ 7.2v nominal ?

Although..."There was not a noticeable difference in terms of lux reading and beam appearance between 18650 and CR123A modes"

Probably different prototypes with varying circuit settings.

Yeah it's a mystery! Though KaiDomain's 3800 lux is still quite a bit, right? AFAIK, the P1D CE is 2700 (candlepowerforums), though nowadays i'm never quite sure if they are doing overall lux or hotspot lux. Not that I even know the difference :p
