L2D question

I love my new L2d but have one stupid question. why are the lanyard holes farther apart than the L2t I had and why is the little notch in between the holes. Does the lanyard loop through one hole or both?

The notch lets the flashlight stand upright, like a candle, while the lanyard fits through the notch.

Don't know why there are two lanyard holes. :popcorn:
