Help me understand the upgraded E1L

From the equipped.org SHOT review:

the E1L improved on the previous version's 4 hours of operation at 25 lumens with 30 lumens of light for 17 hours

That looks like a huge benefit. Is there any way to upgrade my current E1L?

I would have to say yes but not 100% sure..

I have a mod'ed KL1 I ripped open this weekend (i've never mod'ed anyting really before) and it looks like the Cree start will fit. It runs the Lux III which should drive the little buigger right(again, not 100% sure) wihtout frying it like a Lux V transpland would

If it can work this will be my first mod

i will watch this post for our expert's opinions..
