Hi folks,

My standard Magcharger shows some melting of the socket.
I´ve put in - to upgrade it - only a WA1160 bulb with a mica shield.
Maybe I am not using the mica shield in the way it should:
it´s place between the bulb and the socket.

Before it melts further, I´d like to know if this melting is normal,
or should I change something?

Another question is:
I´ve several maglites that I modified (e.g. a 3D with a rechargeable
battery and a standard MC bulb) Now I just put in a WA1160.
Thing is that I can´t remember in a few weeks time what bulb sits
in which flashlight. How can I see the difference between a WA1160 bulb
and an (upgraded) standard maglite bulb. They look the same from the
outside....

thanks,
iapyx

Uh, this may sound stupid, but try turning the lights on. The WA1160 should be much brighter....I run one in my MagCharger and would be able to tell the difference between that and a stock bulb, especially if they were on side by side.

As to your MC socket melting, have you done extended runtimes with it? I see you have an upgraded pack. Whats the longest you have left it constantly on?

Yes, that's what I thought too, turning the light on. Wondered if there was a way to recognize the design differences..

runtimes: I think about 20 to 30 minutes
