TS lanyard holes

A friend asked if I could make a lanyard hole, and a slot for a split ring to nest...normally I pass on this request...but as luck would have it, today, another friend gave me a new 1/8" carbide end mill, so I could give this a try. It worked great...The cutter really wasn't ideal, because of its coating, but it was good enough to prove the process.

I'm still pretty green with milling operations, and I tend to avoid, finished part milling operations, but this hole and slot combo worked out very nicely...so I think I won't be quite so shy with the milling machine from here forward.

The cutter I used was a three flute, ball end mill...I plunged the split ring hole, and milled the slot outside in, full depth...WD40 aerosol was all I used for coolant, it seemed fine...the slot, and the plunged hole milled very smooth.

Because I didn't have to resort to plan 'B', I went ahead and completed the second identical head and tailcap...I really like the .140" design, and the math for the tapering worked out perfectly. Now I need to make a cell tube, and I'll have a copy too.

I gotta warn you...the bezel ring is from my personal stash, and I don't remove the sharp angles with my stuff...the burrs I remove, but I leave the angles crisp and sharp, so that bezel ring is semi sharp.

But seriously, I love the sharp edges and angles of the bezel-ring
in the photo you sent me.

It makes it look like a light to be reckoned with, which it is.

Now I need to find a holster and a display cabinet!
