Would I need to "pot" my DB750?

I've got a DB750 on the way from the shop and I'm wondering if I need to do that whole "potting" thing where you goop thermal compound all over it. That still freaks me out, I just can't see how covering the electronics with goo would help with heat but thats' why I'm asking. The board will be connected to an aluminum HS which will be in an aluminum light, so do I really need to do that, or should it be ok on its own? What would you recommend as far as the compound? Arctic Alumina?

I would. It helps protect it from shock and the AA will be a better thermal conductor than air will be. Yes, arctic alumina would be perfect.

It seems a bit wasteful to use that much thermal compound to get a tiny bit more thermal conductivity. Thermal compound is designed to fill in tiny microscopic crevices in between two parts, not conduct heat over distance.
