anyone ever thought of turning a magcharger into a mag85. i've seen them on ebay without chargers for 70 bucks or so. the reflector and glass does not need to be upgraded. just pop in a 9aa-3d adapter and a wa 1185 and you're good to go. also no need to convert for bi-pin bulb. just be sure to use a mica shield or two.
is this a crazy idea?
if not, i may try it with my magcharger

manzerick, i've seen your signature before. is your 6d converted into a rop. seems to me like that would be one of the easier/cheaper mods cause you don't need to convert the batteries over to 7.2 volts. it's already there, ready to over drive the rop bulbs.

I did this with my MagCharger about a year ago, and it definitely did work. I didn't have any mica sheilds, though, so I went back to the stock setup afterwards.

Give it a shot!

There are several threads on this. But what I found and several others is that the MC can easily take 7.2 volt packs as opposed to 10.8. The phillips 5761 on 7.2 volts puts out more torch lumens than the 1185, just under 900 torch lumens to the 776 torch lumens of the 1185. The MC61 on 5.4 Ah packs run and hour. I love the MC.
