I am at a conference where various vendors give away the usual garbage (pens, sticky pads, breath mints from China, squeeze toys that are supposed to relieve stress). Southern California Edison was giving away a fairly decent flashlight.

It has 14 LED lamps and uses a cartridge that holds three AAA batteries.

Still, with all fourteen LEDs fired up, it doesn't hold a candle to a Fenix P1D CE for distance, which I used on normal in the second beam shot.

Nonetheless, it is good enough to actually be used for short range and I will store it in a glove compartment or trunk. This is the first freebie flashlight that I will actually keep.

Pictures were taken with the built in camera on my laptop, so forgive the quality and composition. For comparison, there is my current EDC (P1D CE) next to it in the second and third pictures. The beam shots (a new low in quality photography) are from approx 25 feet away. The last picture makes the comparison at 5 feet with the Fenix on the left. The flashlight is much more useful at shorter distances. Actually, it fees pretty good for a giveaway. My cravings have been satisfied for another couple weeks.

I promise that my photo skills will improve, at which point I might advance up a notch from "unenlightened".

he Fenix was off. When taking a picture using "photo booth" on a Mac, the screen does flash once to light up a face a couple feet away. That must have given off some reflection which created the "glo paint" effect.

Can someone tell me how to have the pictures actually appear direcxtly on my posting to avoid having to toggle back and forth to a picture hosting site?

Click on "Go advanced" under the "quick reply" box, type in your URL, highlight it, click on the yellow icon with the mountains.

Edit. Oops. Click on the yellow icon FIRST, then enter your pic's URL. Duh. :ohgeez:
