Is the Fenix L1DCE the only one that doesnt work well with a 14500 cell?

Just tried my L2DCE (same head as L1DCE) with a 14500 cell and a dummy AA and yes it worked but only on High/Turbo and strobe, all other settings were not working/available. I understand that most other similar lights are designed to work with the 14500 cell......so, is the L1D/L2D the only ones that don't work well with the 14500?.....

The L1D-CE Uses the same head as the L2D-CE so it should work the same way.

I think Fenix light are the ony ones that don't work well with the 14500 battery. Jetbeam, Liteflux, Ultrafire, and Lumapower (maybe a few more?) all work well with the 14500 battery.

It looks like the soon-to-arrive Rexlight loses its low setting when running li-ion.

It also seems the Lumapower M3 is pushing close to 1 watt on the low setting with a fully charged li-ion. That's going to be pretty bright.

It seems to be a common trend with many of the AA powered lights that they start to go direct drive when Vin exceeds the Vf of the emitter.

More reason to manufacture rechargeable 3.0V 14500; sorry can't help it. I really want rechargeable 3.0V 14500.

My Luma LM301 is very bright on either low and high with a 14500. Funny thing is, it still gets a lot longer runtime if it's set to low.

I just think it's a function of the cheaper drivers used in many of the lower priced Jetbeam/Fenix/Luma lights. Keep in mind, some people want the crazy output increase with a LiIon cell but a lot of people have asked for a light that puts out the same output regardless of if it's an alkaline, LiIon or NiMH cell.

You literally can't please all of the people all of the time.

There's been quite a bit written about the risk to either blowing your light or damage to the led involved when you do the Jetbeam on high with the 14500. So, if you only use it for a couple of minutes on high it seems to be OK. Why do that? In AA mode the high seems to be about the same output as on med with the 14500. So, if you can't use it with a 14500 for much time on high, why use it at all--except to impress people for a couple of minutes with its brilliant out put on high with lithium?

The Jetbeam C-LE is the only one that might have problems running on 14500s, all other Jetbeams(MK1, MKII, MKIIx) have a voltage range of 0.9V-4.2V.
