Modifying a 2D Mag to, well ... a 2D Mag

...not as silly as it seems.

I took a Maglite apart to absolute component form (gets a bit fiddly when stripping the switchgear). Then, wherever an electrical contact point exists, I rubbed a graphite pencil against it. This has the effect of reducing resistance, thus increasing useful power output.

I then did the spring mod, using a length of 30A fuse wire.

The result... by my judgement, and improvement in light output by about 25%, for the cost of the tip of a pencil, and two inches of fusewire. Not bad.

I just wish I had taken 'before' and 'after' beamshots. Nevermind

I'm actually intrigued - rub graphite pencil on contacts and .. what's the spring mod? Please clue me in, I'm interested in simple efficiency gains... :)
