I use a Koehler Wheat 5100 headlamp on a 6 volt, 8 amp battery with a rheostat around the farm. I use the standard BM30 4 volt bulb, and drive it at 6 volts so its plenty bright. The problem is this bulb blows if you so much as sniff wrong. Is there a Lux or Cree conversion that would drop into this 5100 head ? The bulb base is plenty big enough to do a mod on, but I have not the skills to do it. The battery is big, weighs about 4 pounds. Since im lugging around the voltage I might as well be driving something bright with it.
