Hi to all, this goes to KL4 users...

Having lived with the KL4 for 2 days now, I feel that the heat generated during usage is quite abnormaly high compared to the KL1. Would there be any danger with this prolonged heat to the other parts of the lights including the battery?
BTW I'm using AW's high caps R123s 3.7v in single cell config. 10 minutes on a fresh battery, even the TC gets hot.......

Thanks in advance.

The KL4 was designed to work with a 6 volt power source. Because a single R123 is a much lower voltage, the convertor effeciency drops, making it run hotter than normal.

I understand a lot of CPF'ers run this combination and report no ill effects, but be aware that using a single R123 means the KL4 head is running out of specified parameters.

Direct drive at much higher voltage... More heat, less life expectation...
