OK, here's the new Arc-LS thread. The previous thread was getting a bit long.

Welcome to the Arc-LS general discussion thread.

The Arc-LS is the largest flashlight produced by Arc Flashlight and is powered by the Luxeon Star LED from Lumileds.

My old screen name was a long and confusing play on words. So I shortened it from
"I See Ellie Deeze" to IC-LEDs

Thank you Empath for your comment about my pictures.

Thanks Peter. Doh! I was hoping for a new picture though... And isn't Q3 but a week away? I'd hate for this one to be out of date so soon.

Yes, your right. IC LEDs has offered some great pictures to use. It was faster for me to just cut and paste the old page header. I do want to start a new thread when the new lights come out so this thread will be a short run type. I will change the header to Q3 and use some of IC's pictures.

(edit) OK, the new header and pictures are up.

Well Ryan - so far you've learned that Peter is obviously under my thumb.

Thanks for the tune-up Peter. You know what a stickler I am...

Now we just wait around for the SLS order system to open up again.

That's a nice pictorial, IC..uh I See.... er Ellie. Anyway, thanks Mr. Deeze.

Hey! Now a name change kinda makes my above words gibberish. Kinda like all my posts, I guess.

That makes it sound like the new lights are just around the corner. Any hints on an expected time frame? I guess all this really hints is that it will probably be some time before the end of the third quarter, but I can't let a hint slip by without squeezing for more

I now have ARC SLS #262 in my possession (Thanks to Darell) and I have some questions.
1. What is the best way to protect the optics?

2. Ways to decrease battery rattle in the 2AA config.?

I guess that is all for now. Thanks.

Darell I know I could just ask you all of this!!!

I'm sure others have better ideas than I do. But here are mine:

To protect the optics you can use a Surefire or Minimag "beamshaper" rubber bezel with whatever lens you like.

To quiet the rattle, wrap the batteries with some masking tape.

I'm glad to see the new thread on Arc-LS and I've given up the old long thread. A few questions about the new Arc-LS that I'd appreciate if Peter could reply.

1) Will the new one use high dome LS?
2) What'll be the impact on NiMH battery (2AA) in the newly current regulated Arc-LS? Will it be dimmer like the old Arc-LS?
3) Will the newly current regulated Arc-LS be able to handle 2 of CR123A, if it does, any plan for that?

TIA.

What are the regulation differences between the new current method vs. the older voltage method? Sorry if this question has been asked before.

I'm confused. From the last post I gather that there has been a change in the regulation method??? I must have missed this.

Not officialy. Something was prematurely mentioned by me in the other thread. A formal announcment with answers to this question will arrive later this year.

One of these days I wan't to buy an Arc LS first.
Should I buy one now or should I wait?
Are there certain things who will change in the near future (High dome LS?)?
And what's the price and when are they available?

Just reviving part of the old monster thread... thought it might be good to get the LS related stuff back in one place.

Aloha
