well upon further reading ..the guy that asked if it would fit the maxfire also wrote this..

I ordered the $12.50 one but it is too large for my Maxfire LX, so I sold it.
I need this Cree module for my favorite light!

yeh, it's not been in stock for a while. Actually, I had given up til I read your post here and then I saw user berto stated that the 14 dollar unit fit. I pm'ed berto to ask if it was a simple drop in etc. Hope they get more in stock as I'd love to go to LED on the maxfire also.

This might help. If you look at the top of the linked page there is a "product alert" link. Put your email address in the form and you will hopefully be alerted should it come back in stock.

The $12.50 dropin at dealextreme does not fit, it is too long, but can be modded.
The $14.00 dropin does but it is out of stock.
There is a new Cree dropin at Kaidomain for $13.60, with the same dimensions as the $14 dealextreme dropin. I ordered one this afternoon and expect it to fit. I'll report back when I get it in 2 weeks.
Also, if you don't need a Cree dropin, the BugOutGear LuxIII dropin fits perfectly. Review here.
