What's wrong with two of these, and where did I get them?

Polarity looks backward on the right one and the one in the middle.

Also in another post, members received some DX stars where there was little contact with the slug to the star base. You could hold up to the light and see the gap.
Only thing keeping the emitter attached was the two electrical connectors .

That's not the only thing you will want to verify about the DX stars.

Just checked, and all 5 of my DX SSC stars are fine. Also bought 5 from Kai, all checked out fine as well. Very disturbing though ... :shakehead

Just one more reason I only use bare emitters! They're worth the centering troubles

The only thing I see is one of the contacts, one of the U-shaped ones is in the wrong spot. Is that it? And what does the U-shaped contact mean?
Sorry I missed your question before.
The "U" contact marks the side that connects to the (-) source of electricity. It's called the "cathode".
The stars that are wired backwards have (+) labeled pads that go to the cathode. They will not light up unless you ignore the labels and wire the star based on the emitter markings.

I thought that they don't draw any current if it is reversed. They only get damaged if a high enough voltage is applied in reverse if I am correct?
