So I managed to get this guy cmacclel to build me a light. You may have seen his other work being spammed around here ;) but nothing like this.

A Mini RoP measuring 6.5 inches. Heavy stipple reflector, UCL and tailswitch. Nothing fancy on the outside due to the fact that its going to be a worker. It run's off of 2 x 18650's in a custom holder. Works very well. Im going to build another holder soon, this one is only a prototype. Enjoy.

Mods: In 7 days, please move this post over to the ROP master thread. Thanks.

That is very, very cool.

what else to say.. cool..

Ohh, what is the weight all up?
did i mention great looking light..

Technically, as im needing reflector and lens, does UCL have heat issue?
again cool

I used a UCL in my last ROP and have had no problems so far. My old light is used daily by its new owner. As for weight? I dont have a scale on hand right now but it does compare to a 340ml bottle of soda. Maybe just a little bit more. I have already been asked about cost; I will not release that info. That is something that needs to be directed at the builder.

I went with a heavy stipple refelector for the light diffusion properties. The light will mainly be used to inspect roof top equipment on night shifts and any other time I need more light.

Nice light!

Do you think the body can take a tri-bore? Imagine that with a 1185 bulb!

I use a UCL in my ROP and it hasn't been a problem for me.

It should. My rop has a quad bore in it.

I use 3 X LG 18650 (unprotected) to run my 1185 in a 3D.

I should have said that I didn't think 3 protected Li-ions could light the 1185. I just came back to revise that statement, too, though, and say, "except the larger ones, like the new protected 'C's."

I'm sure I don't need to give any warnings, since most everybody probably already knows the danger in running unprotected Li-ions in series.

Im sure you could quad bore it and run 4 18650's in a 2 parallel/2 series holder. Same forward voltage but double the capacity.

People have run the 1185's in a 3x17670 configuration for a while. Aw's newer Black cells work fine.
