?Hi everyone,

Currently for AA powered lights I can think of 3 good ones (50ish dollars and less)

Does anyone know which is the best of the 3?
In terms of:
1. brightness
2. regulation
3. build quality

Any advices which (ONE) to get?

I've got a L1D and preordered a Rexlight (which just began shipping).

Give it a couple weeks and someone will do a 3-way shootout I'm sure.

Thanks all!

The reason why I post this is because I'm planning to buy gifts for people, but don't know which one to get!

If anyone has speculations, it's still better than my empty guess.....

How about putting a question mark at the end of the title? Otherwise, people think that you've done the comparison.

Hi: I will suggest another alternative, Lumapower SSC P4 Formula one. Excellent Build quality, beam, and light output. It is also a work of art. Available from BatteryJunction for $47.45 + s&h. There are 2 extensive reviews of this light in the reviews sub forum ( page 2). Hope this might help. Jerry

if you have C-LE forget the L1D
much brighter on 14500, but on primary L1D is brighter.
build quality i think other C-LE's has this thread issues. but other than that i must say i like the C-LE than L1D. on my own opinion
and also the annodizing of C-LE is nice and tough.
for me, fenix dont have this "real" HAIII again just my own opinion.

rather if you prefered clicky than twisty
go for L1D

that's all for now. my 3 rexlight still on queue. also MKIIX on its way at DX

ernsanada has this HUGE review of L1D and MKIIX

here it is:
C-LE

hope this helps

One day I would really like the three light shoot-out, with run-time plots! It seems that the l1d is brighter to my eyes, perhaps in a light box I could be wrong?

If you want these gifts soon, I'd buy the one that is in-stock locally, ready to ship.

Isn't the CL-E the one that usually fries its boost circuit when you put a 14500 in it?

It really depends what battery chemistry you plan on using(Li-Ion3.6v,Alkaline1.5v,Ni-MH1.2v-all voltages nominal). If using Li-Ion you will lose low, medium, and high, they all are turbo(not sure about SOS)in the L1D. All modes funtion properly on the MKIIx with a 14500(It's brighter) . Also you mention you want to give the lights as gifts, the MKIIx UI isn't for everyone. I really like the L1D UI. Nobody has the Rexlight yet so i'm not sure if you will lose the modes with a 14500, or any thing else for that matter. I'm still waiting for my Rexlight(order#35xx-collecting from supplier). I think If you are using NiMh or alkaline your best bet would be the L1D(best UI and brighter).
