Fenix reverse polarity protection, quick & easy

I have added some epoxy blobs (Arctic Alumina, 0,2-0,3 mm thick).
A cutdown toothpick makes nice round blobs.
Now the -contact of the battery can't reach the +contact of the
driver board. It works well.

1. mix a bit of epoxy (isulator)
2. cutdown a toothpick
3. make 3 or 4 blobs (the surface unter the blobs should be rough)
4. blob-mod. ready!

wow they should do this as standard, yes its a ghetto way of doing it however if it saves the light its worth it..

Energie that is an amazingly simple and effective solution.! Nice out of the box Safeguard. Reminds me of the P1 squishy donut at the negetive end of the tube for headtwist on/off...

Hope those blobs stick well, otherwise they may come lose and stop the body tube from making contact

This worked in several of my Fenix' since month without a problem.
If those blobs are placed correct, they have no contact to the body
or to the + of the battery.

An o-ring of the appropriate thickness and diameter should do the trick as well. I could probably cut out an appropriate ring out of discarded plastic packaging for that matter.

Something light makers been doing for a long time and you've just proven it's easily implemented. I say design flaw in the first place.

Wouldn't work here with a buttonless 14500, since it barely reaches already and adding a magnet would mean no more High mode. But should work just fine with a RCR123...

Fenix could just punch washers out of some adhesive 0.3mm plastic material, and stick them in. This would be a mass- production compatible solution.

Come to think of it, there are probably all kinds of plastic or latex stickers that one can find at a store and cut to the correct doughnut shape to fit all kinds of lights.

The Ultrafire 14500's I got 6 months ago do have buttons, but are only half as tall and wider than the typical AA cell. The 10440's have virtually no button to speak of, which is a pain when trying to charge them.

Of AW's protected cells, only the 17500 and 17670 appear to have normal sized buttons. That includes the C cells.

The Fenix 2-stage system relies a standard length cell, so it's not the lack of a button that is generally the problem (even the slightest protrusion will touch the flat driver board) but that the overall length of Li-ion cells tends to be all over the map. You could shim it longer but you can't make it shorter.
