Anyone doing this or know if it's ok to run RCR123's in this light.?

I've read that they typically output higher than 3v when fully charged.

Thx.

You won't fry it. It won't be noticably brighter in Turbo with the RCR123 as with the CR123. You will lose the different light levels with the R though.

I'm not sure I totally agree with this one. I had a P2D and have the LiFEPO4 batteries.

I got turbo, high, medium, and medium, no low mode. It wouldn't be so bad, but the runtime even on low is quite poor.

Check out Chevrofreaks runtimes for P2D and you will understand. I think perhaps this may be the best option for the P2D, but I don't own any 3.0V RCR123s (Li-on) so can't comment on those.

I ended up selling my P2D. Wanted to run RCR's. BEsides, I keep changing lights for some strange reason...

:D

It's an awesome little light on CR123 primaries tho...

Budman231, you're right, you can't use the regular 3.7v RCR123's or you'll probably fry your light.

I use AW's LiFe P04 3.0v RCR123's and the light works beautifully, including the multiple levels. They do come off the charger a little higher but they still work fine... You can pick them up at Lighthound: http://www.lighthound.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2583
or via AW's thread here at CPF: http://candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=97268

I run mine with Soshine rcr123 3.0v and i can get all level working.
As for RCR3.6v I ran it for a short brief for multi levels testing.
All levels are the same with RCR123 3.6v aka low level not working it just set at max bright, the same goes to my P1D CE.But the low level battery warning is really nice on P2D with RCR123 3v, no need to use protected cell :twothumbs
