Was I wrong? I have been banned and the thread has been deleted. The reason I brought up my cash situation is because he sold me a latch assembly for $70 where I could have bought just a latch switch for half that. As it turns out, none of the parts he sold work.

Is it just me or did the guy's experience credentials look a little weak?

"Appliance Repair School" sounds pretty generic to me. And based on my experience with Sears repair techs, I wasn't real impressed.

I've dealt with a lot of repair techs over the years in computer hardware, automotive, tractors and heavy equipment, appliances, and so on. I have run into very few of them that actually knew what they were doing. Most of them lacked basic troubleshooting skills. If the answer wasn't in a manual, they usually couldn't figure out the problem. Most mechanics and computer techs today just swap parts until they eventually fix the problem. I have seen Dell techs swap several thousand dollars worth of parts on a $10K server just to find out that a $500 motherboard was toast and needed to be replaced.

From the sound of your situation though, this guy just wants to sell you more parts.

I don't know what type of dishwasher you have, but recently GE just issued a big recall on a lot of their dishwashers for a potential fire hazard with wiring in the door near the rinse agent reservoir. My dishwasher was included in this recall. I haven't had them come out and do the repair yet though. I just don't use the rinse agent which apparently leaks on the wiring and eats away at the insulation on the wires.

Thanks guys for confirming my suspicions. I don't think I was being sarcastic or in any way that would warrant being deleted. He clearly was preoccupied or something.
