Thread: ARC Questions

    Default ARC Questions

What are the differences between ARC AAA or ARC LS ?

    http://store.yahoo.com/flashlight/

I am going to buy two of them for my key chains, but I am not sure which one is better and why!

    Thank you,

Totally different deals. The AAA is a tiny keychain light using a single AAA battery and the LS is a considerably larger (but still small) flashlight using normally a 123 lithium battery (optionally others). AAA is probably smaller than your pinkie finger and the LS is probably bigger than your thumb.

The LS is twice as fat, 3 times as heavy and several times more expensive but of course brighter.

Take a look in the Arc Foum.

There you will find answers to all your questions.

Would the LS fit comfortably in my pocket with my keys on the key chain ?

How long would a lithium battery last and are they expensive ?

Is the beam of light ratio difference between the two flashlights ?

Any other input would be appreciated.

    Thank you

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">That is only for you to say. I am not comfortable with the Arc LS on my keychain, and pretty much only comfortable with the Photon Microlite II. But there are many people here who would be and are very comfortable with the LS on their keychains! It is literally the size of your average thumb and about 1.5 times the diameter.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">About 2 - 3 hours depending on usage. The 123 battery is relatively expensive. However, there currently exists an internet special of 20 Toshibas for $30 @ http://www.botachtactical.com/, and there recently was a deal at the same place for 12 SureFire 123s for $15. Shipping not included and around $8-$10 depending on order size.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">The Arc LS is roughly 8 - 10 times brighter than the Arc AAA Limited Edition.

If you would search the forums here, you will find all the information and links to your heart's content.

An Arc LS is about the size of a C cell battery with the twist pack. It's a little slimmer and a little longer but it's close. The current versions come with a clickie tailcap that makes it even longer. You can also buy a 2 AA battery pack that uses less expensive AA batteries or rechargeable NiMH AA's. The 2AA pack is longer but is more econimical to run.

Here is the Arc LS on a keychain:

Here is the size difference between the arc LS and the Arc AAA LE:

Sean, the bottom photo shows the exact model on the right that I have. I've just been to your excellent site and you state that this model was known as the SLS2 and was discontinued because of the lighter color anodizing - yet mine has LS1 on it and Peter has said that it is the the LS1 rev. 2 model. I know it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things but it's got me puzzled!!?!

Sean, which CRKT K.I.S.S. is that? It's not the S.S.T. is it? What's the best online place to purchase, 1SKS?

    Ray,

Looks like a P.E.C.K. to me, given the size. I have one too.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">If it says LS1 then it's an LS1 (rev2) always go by what it says since they both look the same.

All the LS's shown could be the same model or a newer model, the only difference in the picture above is what battery compartment is attached, you can mix and match them. So you are saying that yours came with the 123 "twist-pack". You can buy other packs for your LS.

The (S)LS2 was not really discontinued, the name has changed to the LSH. (High dome emitter)

The same goes for the LS1 (rev2). The name has changed to the LSL (Low dome emitter)
