I know there is an UltraFire charger (white and square)
that switchable for 3.0v and 3.6v cells.
The Soshine charger should also do the same, not shure...

Is any of these any good and what's a good source ?
I don't see it them much anymore on CPF.

Is the cut-off voltage 4.2v ? (I don't want any more, do I ?)
Can it also safely charge UNPROTECTED 3.0v cells ?
Say if I would *forget* a battery in the charger
I don't want it to go =boom=...

Thanks guys ! :D

You could get a 3.0 and a 3.6 Nano and glue them together ;)

Okay, while I'm unsure about the Soshine, this is the info I have:

The ultrafire is a bit mis-leading. It has 2 termination voltages, 4.2V and 3.6V. It works well with standard 3.7V Li-on and also works well with AW's 3.2V LiFEPO4 (set to the 3.0V setting). I don't believe it works properly for most 3.0V Li-ons (just remove as soon as the light turns green).

That is the weird thing. LiFEPO4 is around 3.2V by chemistry. The 3.0V Li-on use a voltage dropping cct (usually) within the cell, so they actually have to be charged with a terminating voltage of 4.4V (usually). So, the ultrafire charger doesn't really work for them.

The Soshine charger should work with 3.7V standard RCR123s. I believe (but don't quote me since I don't really know) that it works on 3.0V Li-on, so should have a terminating voltage of 4.4V. I'm basing this on the fact that Soshine sells standard 3.0V Li-on batteries.

You would be safest trying to match charger to cells when buying 3.0V Li-on RCR123s. If you look at the 2 types at Battery Junction, you will understand, Tenergy has a 3.0V in both 900 and 750 mah (claimed) capacity, with chargers that are incompatible.

I'm sure you're wondering what charger works with the 3.0V generic RCR123's at DX or Kai. I don't know myself. I'd guess the Soshine, but again, not really sure.

So, if you get the Soshine, get Soshine batteries. If you get the ultrafire, it works well with AW's LiFEPO4 cells.

If you get generic cells, well, perhaps Silverfox can comment?

You can ask the seller / dealer for the specific kind of batteries/charger that'll will work. They SHOULD know the products they are selling.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies.

I mostly have the Blue and Black cells form AW and those work
just fine with either the DSD or Nano charger. (right ?)

I then got 4pcs of 3.0 Li-Ion CR2 cells with green wrap.
I got them from CPF as part of a deal, so it was not from
a retailer. They were still new and unused in packaging.

I used them up so now they are sitting collecting dust.
Is there a Nano available for 3.0v Li-Ion cells ?

Is the terminating voltage of the 3.0v CR2 cells 4.4v ?
(btw, these are unprotected cells.)

You should be very caucious.
If these 3.0 Li-Ion CR2 cells with green wrap are something like the following picture,
GCR2.jpg

these 3.0V Li-Ion cells are realized through electrochemistry instead of voltage regulator circuit.
Actually, the 3.0V RCR2 cell in the picture has 3.0V nominal voltage and 3.6V charging termination voltage, and is also unprotected.
Charging the cell with 4.4V charger is dangerous.

Maybe you should contact the guy who sold these RCR2 to you to confirm the right charger.
