I just got my first high power flashlight today! Shipping took a while to South Africa, but worth the wait! What a awesome little light. It will now replace my Maglite 3D LED as a carry light. The Mag will still however be used around the house for general duty.

A quick comparison shows the following:
  • Throw on the Mag is better, but spread on the P3D is favorable.
  • Its easier to change settings on the P3D with the thumb and can be done with only one hand free.
  • The low setting is excellent for finding keyholes etc.
What rechargeable batteries are available (recommended) for this light? AWs look OK.

Also is it better to use 2x123 sizes or one long battery?

Thanks

Welcome to CPF!

You can also get a Malkoffdevices Drop-In for your maglite. Or a Terralux TLE-6EX. Malkoff is brighter and has a better heatsink but the Terralux is cheaper and has a longer runtime. gene43(maker of Malkoffdevices drop in) is currently making each drop in by hand and every batch is almost instantly sold out so it might take a while to get the drop-in.

If you will be keeping the batteries topped of, then the Ultrafire 17670s seem to work since AW's 17670 don't seem to fit (according to some posts).
