What does PayPal consider 'reasonable proof of delivery'?

I'd say signature...no two ways to interpret that unless you waive the designated signee. Delivery confirmation, USPS will dispute if you pursue a claim for lost goods. If the carrier says it was "delivered", they see it as termination of their services...regardless if it was the incorrect address or person. Had two incidents and that motivated me to use signature confirmation and-or restricted delivery then on. (Costs more, on some items...well worth it.)

How PP interprets it...dunno. I do it for my peace of mind.

A picture of the recipient actually receiving the package, with multiple angle shots including one zooming in on the confirmation #.

Naw, just kidding. I'd say a signature is the only reasonable proof.

I seem to recall someone else that was involved in a PP dispute saying that the Signature Confirmation was only required if the amount involved was $250 or more.

I have read several months back about someone here losing a paypal dispute because delivery confirmation was not enough for PP. If it's an expensive item go with signature.

bad new folks... just got off the line with paypal.

what you need to look at is seller protection under legal agreement.
https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/ua/USUA#spp-policy

this stuff should be in FAQ, but instead is buried under the legal agreements.

1. proof of delivery accepted by PP is any type of delivery with online tracking. this is valid only up to $249.

2. $250+ requires proof of delivery with signature.

3. international shipments require proof of tracking the entire way. USPS only tracks to US borders. Paypal will not accept any deliveries by USPS, including EMS as proof delivery occurred. Fedx and DHL are only couriers that track the entire way.

4. paypal funded by credit card can be recalled up the 6 months or longer by issuing credit card company. if proof of delivery can be established in US, UK and Canada only. Paypal protection will not charge you back. for all other countries paypal will charge you back.

paypal will only accept couriers that track the entire way as proof item was delivered. even if items was shipped via Fedx or DHL and credit card company sides with buyer. if funds are withdrawn by credit card company. Paypal will charge you back, even if you can prove item was delivered.

DON'T ACCEPT CREDIT CARD FUNDED PAYPAL FOR INTL SALES. (unless it's someone you totally trust)

It's interesting to note that Paypal requires proof of tracking the entire way. As far as I know, the only type of service by USPS that can provide this is by registered mail. If I remember correctly, Registered mail delivery can be used in a court of law that a piece of mail has actually been received by the recipient, so I'm pretty sure that Paypal will accept it as well.

I thought the same thing... and asked this exact question. paypal will not accept ANY service by USPS, including Express Mail (which requires a signature) as proof of delivery.

only two couriers accepted by paypal that tracks entire way is Fedex and DHL.

and yes... I did ask several times if this was correct and in no way was I misunderstanding what paypal customers service agent was stating.

further I informed him that this information was going to be posted on CPF w/15K+ members that use paypal extensively with lots of intnl trading activity. So be sure the information he was giving is correct.

Hmmm... Sounds like Paypal has something against the USPS... Although, just talking to some Customer Service guy at Paypal isn't saying much, since that guy who told you this may actually not know what he's talking about..

again... I thought the exact same thing. I first called standard paypal customer service, who declined the question in favor of a specialist.

then was connected to a specialist from paypal. that's who fielded my questions. he referred me to PP's seller protection clause below.

https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/ua/USUA#spp-policy

#H. You must have trackable online proof of delivery from an approved shipper to the address on the "Transaction Details" page. For transactions involving $250.00 USD or more, you must provide a proof of receipt that was signed or otherwise acknowledged by the buyer and can be viewed online, (If you paid in a currency other than US dollars, the following amounts apply for this section: $325.00 CAD, €200.00 EUR, £150.00 GBP, ¥28000.00 JPY, $350.00 AUD, 330.00 CHF, 1,600.00 NOK, 2,000.00 SEK, 1,500.00 DKK, 800.00 PLN, 55000.00 HUF, 6,000.00 CZK, $400.00 SGD, $2,000.00 HKD, $380.00 NZD), and"

Which then refers to "approved shipper" page
https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/popup/ProtectionsPop

this seems to say any shipper from list that provides online tracking would be OK. which includes UPSP. but then notice the weasel sentence on bottom of page.

"NOTE: When you use these services, PayPal cannot guarantee that the shipping details will be available in time to respond to Seller Protection Policy claims."

this handily negates anything stated above.

Sooooo... someone else needs to call paypal and double check what was related to me.

I have been screwed once.
Fedex said they delivered an item at my door step when I was not at home.
Since it was under $250 Paypal said they would not do anything.
The item was cost me $242.

USPS deliver confirmation is sufficient. I bought something on ebay and checked the USPS tracking a week later and it said delivered. I called paypal and they said to take it up with the USPS. I called the USPS once a week for the next six months, each time getting nothing more than a call tracking number and a promise that someone would call back in 48 hours.

now that worries me... as I ship fedx ground all the time for air rifles. most times they are over $250, but not always.

that's good for the shipper, bad for buyer if something gets lost. but there's always insurance via fedx ground for $100 min.

do did you file insurance at fedx?
