Modifying the new Cree L1....

I mentioned this in another thread but I felt it needed it own thread....


Theres' been some talk that the new L1s' low isn't reallly low enough. I'm assuming the low is resistor driven and therefore I'm wondering if a resistor could be added or the stock one replaced with one of a higher value to get the low we might be looking for. This is pure speculation of course, but seems like a worthy topic - even thought the light isn't even out yet!:cool:

Yeah, I've been thinking of having Milkyspit mod a new L1 for me. I am considering the new version primarily because it is shorter than the previous two iterations.

Swapping the resistor in the L1 tailcap is really simple. I did it in mine when I installed a SSC P4. I think I went with 68 Ohms, and now the low is probably just a touch dimmer than my U2.
