I just came from my local Big Lots ( LaPlace, LA about 20 minutes from New Orleans) and they have the Victorinox Escort with knife, nail file with screw driver tip, tweezers and tooth pick for $6.00. They also have the Sportsman II for $7.00 If you have a Big Lots in your town, the Escort is in the part of the store with advertized specials and the Sportsman was found in the tool isle. I know that a lot of you love the SAK's, so I thought this might be of intrest.

Saw these in my Big Lots, too. Both kinds were in the tool aisle here. Picked up a Sportsman there back about last November.

Just picked up a few for gifts. For those of you who don't know, the "II" suffix on any Victorinox knife refers to the finish on the handle. Such as the popular Recruit II and 2AAA MiniMag combo sold a Lowe's a while back, the "II" finish is a matte plastic, as opposed to the standard glossy finish on most of Victorinox's knives. This gives it greater resistance to scratching against keys and such in your pocket. The only drawback that I don't like about this finish is that the shield emblem is impressed foil instead of metal inset into the handle. This means that it will eventually wear off. Otherwise, this is a great deal on a great knife, and a perfect choice to throw into the bottom of your BOB, EDC for wear and abuse, or put it in your hiking bag and forget about until needed.

Update: Just checked, the Sportsman II is the same length and width as the Recruit, making it a slightly cheaper alternative with different and more tools than the ever popular $10 Recruit from WalMart.
