Surefire diffuser on new Cree lights

Depending on the technology, a good diffuser can reduce light output by as little as 5% and certainly only a 10% drop is easy...well below what your eye will notice. If you notice good TIR lenses has a faceted front which impacts very little loss.

They may have gone with a diffuser as a combination quick fix and/or cheaper than a stippled reflector. Their customers will expect artifact free beamn patterns.
