Hi KosPap,

According to the Energizer website listed below, 1937 was the year the PR bulb was introduced. Not sure whether that was when it was introduced by Eveready in their lights or whether that was when they were first used.

It seems to me that there were lights that used PR bulbs prior to 1937, however, they probably came into being sometime in the 1930s.

5mm LEDs has been around since at least the early 1970s. First came reds, and then orange, yellow, and finally yellow-green. The high-brightness ones started coming out in the mid-1980s, first reds, then oranges and yellows. I remember a big thing in the late 1980s was the introduction of daylight-visible LEDs, meaning that you could tell if an indicator light was on during the daytime. Also about this time red LEDs surpassed the efficiency of using red filters on incandescent. This was about 2 lm/W IIRC. LEDs continued to improve steadily throughout the 1990s. Luxeon released the first power LED in 1999. I think the LuxV came out in 2001 or so, and the LuxIII in 2003.
