Certainly not a powerhouse, but 20 lumens from a AAA battery isn't terrible. Plus, its sort of small.

Not familiar with 1/2 watt LEDs, what kind of LED is this? Is it a Nichea, Luxeon, or other?

Anyone plan to preorder this light?

Is that good, bad, or ugly?

I've never owned or handled a River Rock light.

yes - probably a 1/2 watt Nichia - nothing I'd get excited about. Lots of similar lights around and they are really a step backwards with all of todays choices. They were just a step up from 5mm LED's IMO. An old Luxeon I can do much better and with the right driver can run dimmer or much brighter than this LED.

In that case, you're right... nothing to get excited about.

I'm not a fan of the Nicheas I've used.

They're also coming out with a 2AAA clickie version. AAA Penlight LED with clickie, Woot!!! Finally!!

Didn't know RR had a 1AAA clickie..need to check it out.

I never had any luck with streamlight the penlight i had stoped working and my polystinger/ultrastinger always had switch and battery problems so i think i will keep buying cheap DX lights like the MTE
