Mods for a 6C Mag?

I've just ordered a 6C Mag and I'd prefer an LED to the stock lamp. What options are there that don't cost a fortune and don't require me to build a circuit board? I'd like at least 3.5 hours runtime with alkalines or lithium primary cells (no rechargeable).

Whatever is available I'm sure someone here knows.

I found this: TerraLUX TLE-6EX MiniStar5 SSC P4 U bin LED upgrade for 3-6 C/D cell Maglites (scroll down) Which looks (I think) better than this: TerraLUX MaxStar3 3W Luxeon LED for Maglite® 6C cell flashlight TLE-DB-3, because it's brighter. But if it is better, why is it cheaper? And why does the 2nd one come with 3 dummy C cells, will it blow with all 6? Will either of these be fine with Alkaline or Lithium primaries?

The first link you posted is regulated so it must be using a buck converter to lower the voltage to where it won't blow the LED. The second one must not be and thus the 3 dummy cells. I would feel a bit like a dummy carrying around such a big like without getting the full capacity. The prices have come down on a lot of things and the newer product (P4)might just be priced better for that reason.

The best mod IMO would be this driver:

and a perfect heatsink in combination with a SSC or Cree.
Much more reliable than any drop-in, runtime for days and great brightness if necessary.

I got concerned about the TerraLUX TLE-6EX MiniStar5 SSC P4 U bin LED upgrade after reading this: http://www.molalla.net/~leeper/terralux.htm, though I guess this: Mag C Tower should take care of the problem, right? (Because I wouldn't be able to rebuild the module from different parts.)

Long John that looks very interesting, but I'm not exactly sure what it is or how I would use it. If it's not a drop in, does that mean I'd have to connect it to the flashlight myself somehow? From those pictures I don't even see an LED on it, would I have to get one separately and attach it? It might be beyond my flashlight modding skill level, or I might just not understand what it is.

Jason, yes it means a mod by yourself.
It looks more complicated than it is.

Another possibility would be:

4xSSC's connected 2xS and 2xP, without a driver, since your batt.-configuration (6xC-cells)is perfect for such a setup.
