It's not really a new light from Night-Ops as Strategos' offer is a mod to the current Gladius, and the mod will knock a lifetime warranty down to 1 year.

I do wonder when Night-Ops will simply upgrade the Gladius with a Cree.

If it was so simple to switch the emitter to Cree, then don't you think they'd offer that service instead of upgrade to SSC?

Sorry, I'm using "Cree" to denote not only the Cree but the Seoul LED as well.

The mod is certainly a welcome step forward with a great light. It'll just be nicer when Night-Ops incorporates the new LEDs in their production units and you don't have to worry about voiding the lifetime warranty.

I think he meant when would they update the standard LED in the light.

it seems to be very heasy to change the led to ssc ( just the led to change) , but to cree you need an other reflector. so for gladius, seoul is the best...
i have one, it's incredible

Sent mine off last week. It's a truly excellent light - the post-mod pics posted by Ken are very persuasive. I'm looking forward to receiving the light back.

Is the asking price to mod my current Gladius of $65ish a fair price for such a mod? I'd love to have more lumens but want to make sure it's not going to be a ripoff.

For me, the gladius is one of the best tactical light of the market.
The body is well machined, it's waterproff, magnetic switch, I love the UI ( low bat warning, heat protected....) the rotating dial is great.....But the luxeon III is obsolet.
For now there is no cree or Seoul flashlight with all the gladius great points.

With the mod, for the price of a "great" cree or seoul light, you have the best flashlight avaiable this time...
