Hmm. Red Rebels are putting out minimum 40 lumens @350mA, as opposed to the Cree's minimum 18 lumens (40 typical lumens) @350mA.

It's an XR, not an XR-E. Before the Rebels arrived, the most efficient red power LED was the red Luxeon with 30.6 minimum L at 350mA.

I could have sworn that in surefires 2007 catalog they had an L1 listing that said you could get it with either a red LED or a white LED. I am guessing that the red will be a Cree XR series LED vs. the white which is the XRE.

This company has 1 watt, 3 watt, and 5 watt led's in many colors. I've made red, green, and blue lights with their 1 watt led's- and have been very satisfied with the results. THese are not cree- but still pretty strong...especially the green. http://www.besthongkong.com/index.php?cPath=19_53
