The Seoul LED that came on top of the Malkoff dropin seems rather cloudy compared to other LEDs (Luxeons), and it feels kind of "sticky". Is this a normal attribute for this LED?

Yes. Do not touch the dome. It is a gummy kind of substance, and dirt and dust will stick to it. I cannot tell you how to properly clean it, but maybe someone else can.

Okay, I was just wondering because I have only known LEDs to have clear domes. Obviously the "gummy bear dome" (I like that term) doesn't take away from the brightness.

Now I just have to find a GOOD colored Maglite to place Gene's well made dropin. . . . in.

I've found that by far the best method is using sticky tape to remove any dust or dirt on the dome.
