Many threads in cpf extoll the virtues of using a red led light for "stealth" purposes. Some of the posters want a "bright" red light which to me appears counter productive as far as stealth is concerned. What are other viewpoints concerning the above?

Stealth purposes? Really? If its pretty dark in an area, a red light will still draw attention. I suppose that a dim red with little to no flood would be more stealthy. But my understanding is that the main reason to use a red light is to preserve night vision.
IMHO, for ultimate stealth purposes, IR lights and night vision equipment would be the way to go.

The red lights are useful for keeping night adapted eyes adapted, also, they don't scare off animals. I don't know about "stealth" but it lets you get around without getting out a big bright light.
