Does the K2 have similar beam pattern as a Lux I?

Hey guys, this question has probably been asked before, but I tried searching and couldn't find anything. Does the K2 have the same beam pattern as the Lux I? I would like to swap out a Lux I for a K2 because I see them for really cheap at under $3 for one on a star. The flashlight has some kind of chip running off of 3XAAA rechargeable batteries inside the flashlight and charged through the cigarette lighter of the car. Would I be able to just bypass the chip and run the K2 directly off of 3 X AAA rechargeables or should I place a resistor in between?

3 aaa's would be fine. beam pattern is the same but i can't swear to the die height. i have some lux 1's that are on slightly thinner boards than lux 3's. good luck!
