Bogus output claim?

From my time spent here I suspect these is badly inflated. Especially coming from a name I haven't heard of before.

If it's right the quality must be poor with that output for about US$30.

its possible the cree is said to be capable of 80lm total at 1 watt.
(the manufactures claim on the souel thing is 240lm at 3W)

running the cree at 3W greatly reduces the lumens per watt efficiency

the reflector looses 10% , the glass looses 8%, probably some other ~10% loss total
the runtime is about 2 hours (140min) on 2 AAs
2500ma x 2 x 1.2v = 6Watts max possible from ni-mhy batteries
divide by the 2 hours, is about 3 watts
take away ~15% for the curcuit stuff
so it MIGHT be running the cree close to max spec.

its also possible that that is the total lumens when its not stuffed in the light. probably not anymore overrated, than everything else it.
it might also do that when there is NEW fresh or lithium cells in, and dwindles a bit as the cells depleate.
