I would go for the Novatac, though don't know the Gladius. Can just tell you that with the Novatac you get a very good beam, perfect IMO and a well tested design, which can really take some beatings :).

Hmmmmm....... seems like two totally different lights. Why don't you tell us a little about how you are planning to use your new light. Is this going to be a pocket (EDC) light, or a general purpose around the house/car kind of light?

If you're looking at the Gladius, you might also want to check out 2 new contenders on the market:

I don't own either one, but have been considering both (especially with the multi-level drop-ins), and have come to the conclusion that either one will probably provide an excellent value in a rugged, bright, long running illumination tool.

Of course, as a new (and very happy) owner of the Novatac 120P, I can highly recommend this light as a wonderful, full featured pocket light. But, you might also want to consider the Fenix P2D CE, as it costs about 1/3 what the Novatac goes for, and is a fine pocket light in it's own right.

The Gladius has a tight hot spot and is primarily for long throw - lots of cool features oriented toward a tactical user. The Novatac is also quite tactical (especially the T version) but has many more options and is more of a flood output but also has good throw. The Gladius is at least twice as large as the Novatac. I'd probably go for the Novatac under nearly all situations but they are both quality lights - the Novatac will have more light output unless you pay to upgrade the Gladius. With an upgrade the Gladius will almost run twice as much money as the Novatac.

My main use for my next light would be for work(LEO). On my belt I have the P3D set up in the front and in the back I have my Cree'd 6P as my back up. What I want now is a light with a very tight hot spot. The main reason is to have a better blinding affect cause the majority of the light will be right on the perps face.

Ahhhhh....... ok, that clears things up considerably. I'm sure one of our LEO CPF members will chime in with some good information for you. Happy hunting!

Oh.... here are a couple of threads that might be helpful:

I'm sure you probably checked out this light, but just in case:

AND..... if you decide you do want the Gladius with the SSC P4, which looks to be a very nice tactical light.... then you might check here for a good deal on one:

I have the nova T and its bright, I also had the Gladius (stock 80 Lumens) and that is already bright. i would say after the upgrade it would be much brighter. the only downfall for the Gladius is the battery change its a pain in the neck if your not use to it. How about U2 or the Tiablo A8 (tiablo is about 200 lumens) the only thing your going to lose is the disorienting storbe.

Godd stuff so far guys. Thanks. A little more info and I think I can make my decision. The size of the Novatac is incredible but for a flood affect I have my P3d-CE. I wish someone out there has the 2 lights I am talking about and could tell me whats what.

There is ONE extra step in the Gladius's battery change procedure... ONE. Getting used to it only really requires reading the instructions and trying the procedure a couple times, like you'd do with any new light.

I have a couple videos intended to bust the myth that it's difficult to swap the Gladius's battery, or use it in the dark, or swap battery in the dark, etc. www.tigerhawkt3.com/myvideos.htm.
