SS bezel ring on novatacs advice needed*done added pics*

Now i am 100% sure it is SS how can i get the black off it.i have a dremmel.so tried polishing it comes up like gun metal so far.but there must be a way of getting it back to stainless look.i do not see the sense in buying a plain new one.as it is already SS.thanks for any advice:thumbsup:

I like it black. It's more of a military look and since I'm fascinated with military products it appeals to me I guess.

What about steel wool? Start with a coarser one and continue until you reach the very fine.

Not sure, but I think folks in the past have used a highly basic solution to remove anodizing. Try a weak lye solution (sodium hydroxide) first and see what happens. Beware, though, if the bezel is actually aluminum the lye will try to dissolve it.
