Need tiny waterprof flashlight

Hi guys!

I´m looking for a special kind of flashlight. For my diving activities I need a tiny LED flashlight with Cree or P4 driven with only one AA cell. And it should be waterproof and made out of robust alu.

Does anybody know something like that?

It's thoroughly waterproof and is darn bright at 2W driven. I think it's a Cree, although it could be a P4 Anyways, it's fully dunkable unlike the many Chinese lights (Fenix, Jetbeam, etc) which are only water resistant, which basically means it's splash-proof only. Oh and it's a forward clicky too. Hope this helps!

You know Fenix is dunkable. Can you dive with it? No. But the rating is 2M waterproof.

In fact, in terms of water resistance, it has the highest rating available. Beyond it, it's up to the manufactor to determine and describe. The minimum for this rating is 2M.

This goes the right direction, but the Barbo B-04 is too big and the Inova X1 run with 123A Bateries.
Is there anything that runs on one cheap AA 1,2V accu??
2m restistant may be enough until it can be tuned to take more pressure..

Mike, the T-04 runs with 1xAA too, not the U-04.

Unfortunately my friend, who owns a Fenix, accidently dropped it into one of those shallow fish ponds (less than 1m deep).. and the water seeped inside the battery compartment, and shorted out the light. So yea, I guess you could say he was weary of the Chinese manufacturer's claim ever since.

This one may not have a Cree or SSC but it does have the Lux 1 and has a 60 meter depth rating. Picked one up at the store yesterday. Looks like it can be easily modded as the emitter is very easy to get to. It has a focused beam and output is not bad. I think it is rated at about 40 lumens.

The Dexlight is said to be waterproof to 10m. I'd say it is at least dunk-able(It does have two o-rings at both ends of the battery tube) and might be waterproof if you oil the o-rings before a dive. But it uses PWM and has a bit too many modes, both of which might be annoying.

Can I ask what would be the use for this light? Maybe I could recommend you one (even not made by Barbolight!!)

What I need is a VERY small light for mounting it on my mask band only for reading instruments without pointing with the main lamp. So lumen isn´t so important like the formfactor. Runtime for around 1h would be OK since it has not to be a backuplight.

So far the T-04 looks interesting but I can not find any technical details or a webshop for buying it.

I'm used to dive on murky waters, so this is my advice.

For your purposes I would recommend you a dim light, as a flashlights too bright and so close to your eyes would be negative because of the backscatter (it always exist, even on clean waters) You need lighting for 35 cm or so. What I use for instrument reading is a CMG Infinity turqoise (unfortunately not in production now, but maybe you could find one). This is the best color for water penetration. In the case you can not get one go for the white, also an excelent choice. they were described as waterproof to -1m, but they are at -100m. (tested).

T-04 is being introduced as T-15 and some other new products in October at www.milipol.com (they were designed for tactical uses) and we are going to open a new website for this line of products.

By all means T-04 is too bright to put it on your mask.

It is waterproof to 3500meters respectively 11,000 feet.

My first thought would be a UK 2AAA eLED. Sure, it's only a 5mm LED, but the light is pretty rugged, small and as far as I recall dive-rated. Runtime is 10+ hours on a set of alkalines.

And it's cheap.

The UK 2AAA eLED might be good for you. It is designed to be mask-mountable, I believe.

Thanx to all of you for your hints und especially babarian for the good ideas. Since I know german murky waters very well I will try to grab one of these lights.
If not availible I might try to build it on my own.

btw babarian since you have no problems to bulid lights yourself and perhaps like a extreme bright diving light you might want to take a look at my OSTAR project - 3500 LED-Lumen in a very small formfaktor.

with a catch...lube those rings, make sure the bezel is seated properly and don't turn the light on more than one revolution under water
