I thought I would post some outdoor comparison beamshots for the new Pelican 7060. I tried to compare it to my other medium throw light the D-mini, and then the Inova T3 (2007 K2 light). I put the T3 in there because a number of security/police officers have been using the new T4, and I believe they have the same output #s, though the T4 runs on a 3.7v while the T3 runs on 3x123a's. My friend (an ex-cop) said she would lend my her old mag light for these tests, but when she brought it, it was only a 2D cell/stock bulb, and I just did not think it was a fair comparison so did not include it.

First a Test shot. These were taken on a path above Las Cruces New Mexico. The path is very dark, but you can see the city lights below in the background. Because of the path's height, the city lights do not illuminate it. There is a 10' wide gate at the entrance, which is my target. Camera is at f/2.8 at 4 sec of exposure. Iso is at 80. Sorry, realized that the camera was at full zoom on this shot...still shows darkness well though.

Next the Inova T3 on 3xSF123a's

Next is the D-mini on a AW-rcr123a 3.7v

Well to my eyes, it looks like the D-mini and the 7060 showed the target decently. The T3 did a decent job of illuminating the forground, but is not a great distance light. As happy as I have been with the D-mini, the 7060 is easily brighter, and has the brightest-if not widest spill of all my led lights as well. Hopefully someone will post some distance shots of the 7060 vs. the MRV or Tiablo A8 or A9. That would be a more fair contest. Thanks for reading.

just so you know, the D-mini looks less purple in real life than in the picture. It looks pretty white until compared with the 7060.
