Fenix L1D with UltraFire C3 extension?

Does anyone know if a combination of the Fenix L1D with a UltraFire C3 AA extension tube would work, giving you a 2xAA light when you need it, rather than having to buy a L2D body?

I tried it and it will not fit. The diameter of the Fenix is bigger than the C3 extension tube.
