Because the 14500 is a little bit longer than a AA, the turbo mode doesn`t work-you need a ring between the head and the body or between the tailcap and the body.

My Question:
which material?
I think copper qould be the best (which don`t cost too much)-am I right?

If you decide to go the route of adding a "ring", I would put it on the the tailcap of the L1D. I would think that putting it on the head might not allow it to get out of turbo if the ring were to come loose.

But yes, I would definitely choose to use a something like a copper washer from a hardware store to bridge the connection.

Odd, turbo mode works fine on my L1D with Ultrafire 14500's. What brand are you using?

When you have a 14500 in your L1D and the head is tight, what happens when you switch modes? On my L1D with a 14500 (AW), it acts as if the L1D head is loose. It will switch from med->low->high->SOS mode. Of course, all three non-SOS modes look the same until the voltage drops. I've never gotten my L1D to go from turbo->strobe while on the 14500.

The same to me.
that`s why I`ll make a ring.

I get turbo and strobe. I also compared my UF 14500 with a normal AA cell and they're the same length, though the button for the positive terminal is quite short compared to an AA.

Cool. What did you use? Do you think that copper wire would work?

I also ordered a couple of UF 14500 (since they're so cheap) to see if those would work better. Too bad after I order the UF 14500s last week, DX started carrying the TrustFire protected 14500s.

DX just started carrying the protected UF 14500 also.

I also get turbo and strobe, after the voltage has settled down. I'm using some 14500 I bought from markcm a long time ago.

Ok, the unprotected UF 14500s came in and they are quite a bit shorter than the AW 14500 so I now get turbo/strobe on my L1D. I guess the protection IC makes the protected 14500 too long for my L1D. I wonder if the protected UF/TF 14500 that DX sells is any shorter than the AW 14500?

Now I just have to find a home for my AW 14500. :)
